May 26: Egg Harbor Township, NJ
The Egg Harbor Township Middle School hosted its annual Career Day for eighth grade students May 26. Dr. Bray and Dr. Pfund were among those asked to participate. Focusing on the benefits of becoming orthodontists, Kirk Scalfaro, Business Manager of "BRAYCES" Orthodontics, hoped to inspire the young students.
"If you want to be an orthodontist you have to enjoy science," Kirk told students. "You have to want to be at school, and you have to want to do well. It can take 10 years of school, after high school, to become an orthodontist."
The students, many wearing braces, saw how rewarding the field of orthodontics and dentistry could be through Kirk's talk and a short video explaining orthodontics to the students.

Though some students obviously had other careers in mind; one boy told us, "I know I don't want to be an orthodontist ... I want to be a football player." We hope that many were at least opened to the idea of orthodontics as a profession.
